April 17, 2014

From the desk of your team....

Dear friends

A huge thank you to the AISC community for making the PTA Ball a great success.  The Executive Committee is grateful to all Coordinators and volunteers, who tirelessly worked to collect silent auction items and make wonderful baskets for the silent auction.  We thank the tireless efforts for all of those people who went to vendors to get great "goodies" for door prizes and silent auction items.  For all those who went and "pounded the pavement" to get advertisement for the magazines, we thank you for your efforts.  Our thanks to all the artists who created such beautiful prints, and our teachers who created works of art for the auction. Lastly, a big thanks to Ms.Sarah Naidoo and her daughters for creating a poster that was the embodiment of the event.  With all the tireless efforts of the all of these people, we made an event that was well beyond the imagination of all of us.

There are two more events that take place this year, and we would love to make them as impactful as we did the PTA Ball.  These two are the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day on the 23rd of April.  The venue is the FAC Atrium from 11:30 to 2 p.m.  We look forward to a short program and be able to share with our faculty and staff the ever thanks for all that they do.

Lastly this year will the PTA Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast.  We have changed the format of this from a luncheon to a breakfast.  There are a few reasons for this that we wanted to share with the community for this, but first...  The Breakfast will be on May 6, during the last PTA meeting of this year.  The venue will be in the FAC Cafeteria.  This year, we are having the Breakfast on campus to include everyone.  Plus, being on campus, it is quite convenient to all to attend.  We know that there are parents who have done "small jobs" and large ones to contribute to the school and in the end, our kids.  You could be the parent who helped stuff give aways for UN Day for your country booth, or helped to assist in making the classroom party a huge success in the P3+ class this year.  We want to recognize you and we want to appreciate you in our Breakfast.  We know that each parent, however large or small their contribution, makes an effort each day to enrich the lives of the classroom children and their child's lives.  We want to recognize you.  We want all those who have made any contribution to the school, to come for the breakfast.  Thus, please mark your calendars and do come for the Breakfast.  We look forward to seeing everyone on this day.

We will be sharing with you all about the May PTA meeting and the Agenda items next week.  Please do look out for this important communication.

Happy Easter and enjoy your long weekend.

PTA By Laws - For Association Approval

During this month's meeting, there was a lot of information that was delivered to the community.  Some main points were about the PTA Task Force.  The Task Force was put together in early March to revise the PTA ByLaws to align them with the Strategic Plan.

The Task Force is made up of the following people: Susan Scales, Christina Ma, Lica Kamio, Shanthi Giridhar, Jennifer Nordin.  The main take-aways from the Task Force are the following:
1) The name of the AISC PTA will change to the AISC PCA - Parent Community Association.
2) All parents or guardians with children enrolled at AISC are members of the PCA. There is no fees associated with the association.
3)  The PCA wants the works of the PCA to align with AISC Mission and Core Values.
