April 30, 2015

Dear Friends,

This week started with a very sad news: the Earthquake in Nepal, a catastrophic disaster that continue to count victims every day.
The School, trough teachers and parents is collecting money and the following information will be in Andrew Hoover's Newsletter this week:

"The Lincoln School in Kathmandu have set up a Relief Fund. This is a mission-aligned vehicle to help rebuild lives and homes, get resources to those who need them, and provide medical help to people in Kathmandu.

From their website:
We appreciate the outpouring of support for Lincoln and the people of Nepal. As a school we are planning to support our local community and beyond. We have received numerous questions regarding donations. A PayPal account has been created: Lincoln School Kathmandu Earthquake Relief Fund.

Money collected will go through a process of thorough vetting of needs to rebuild homes, provide medical and supporting the communities. No administrative costs will be incurred. We will share how the funds were distributed through our website and our Facebook page later.

You can contribute directly to their fund. Here, we have set up an AISC-LS Connection Relief Fund to support Lincoln’s School’s efforts. Cash donations will be accepted by our cashier (just mention to him that you want to donate to the Relief Fund) and all donations made at AISC will go to the Lincoln School fund. I will update you on Lincoln’s progress as they share out."

April 24, 2015

Dear parents,

What a quick rise of temperature!
This is the hottest season for Chennai, for those who experience India for the first time, and it will be every day warmer, so I wish none of your A/C will ever break in these months!

The PCA Ball: what a great night we had at the Leela Palace with all our colourful masks and glamorous dresses.
The DJ with great music helped us a lot in moving feet and getting smily faces for the photographer who has wonderful pictures to show us: they are ready at the Main Reception by the PCA notice board by the way.
Look for them and choose your favorite pose to have it printed!
You will be able to order from the photographer directly; if you did not pick up your personal photos we will let you know when they will be ready.

A HUGE
goes to all of you who attended and to all the Country Coordinators who contributed donating delicious baskets for the Silent Auction and to all different and generous sponsors.

THANK YOU again from the PCA Team.

Faculty and Staff Appreciation Lunch
That was another big hit: we had so many positive feedbacks from teachers and security and custodians who were smiling at us all day long...that we can be very proud of what we organized.
Dear Country Coordinators,
THANK YOU so much for the wonderful job you helped us in assembling for our wonderful Faculty and staff.
The Lunch was a success and the appreciation messages made all the efforts worth while!!!
APPRECIATION was the word!

PCA Executive Team Election & Volunteers Appreciation Brunch
This will be next: on May 5, from 8:45am in the FAC: first will be our VERY important meeting regarding the ELECTION of the New PCA Executive Team and right after that we will have a yummy brunch together.
On 22 April during the PCA Monthly Meeting we officially opened the PCA Executive Team Elections weeks: the Volunteer Signing up Forms are ready to be picked up at the Main Reception from Sonia.
We presented a Video (check it in the Monthly Presentation that you will find in the previous post) to sensitize parents stepping forward and being part of the big Community as we are, giving time and efforts choosing to help, through the PCA Committee or just together with them - Country Coordinators, Grade Representatives, SAISA/ASIAC Coordinator and Fine Arts Coordinator - if you think you can do it...and for sure you can...just email us, possibly before May 5, that is the day when the Nominees will be announced.
Just after that a big Volunteers Appreciation Brunch will be set in honour of all parents who were always happy to reply to our many calls.
We asked people to sign up to give us also a rough idea how many people to expect. Please see Sonia to sign up if you have not already.

The Middle and High School choirs have prepared a showcase of all their favorite songs! Join us at our Pops Concert after school on Monday April 27, in the FAC Cafeteria to hear some great music. This informal performance will feature solos, duets and small groups singing a wide range of popular music. See you there!

THAT'S ALL FOLKS!

Have a relaxing and HOT weekend and....we hope to see many of you at the Brunch.

YOUR PCA TEAM.
