Join us for a tour of Dakshina Chitra heritage museum on Wednesday, March 13. Storytrails will host us at Dakshina Chitra and walk us through the grand old homes from across South India. We will take a bit of time after the tour to shop at the handcraft bazaar located within the grounds.

We will board the bus and leave promptly at 9:00 for the museum. It will take approximately one hour to reach the museum. We will finish the tour and shopping around 12:30 and then head to Madras Square cafe for lunch. We will be back at school by about 3:00.

Koyembedu Market Social Outing
Monday, February 18

Have you ever wondered where all the fruits, flowers, and vegetables all over the city come from? They come from Koyambedu Market, the largest wholesale market in Chennai. Flowers and fresh produce come from all over Chennai to the marketplace, where local vendors sell their goods directly to merchants across the city. Some people even line up as early as 4:00 am to select the best merchandise for their shops and stalls.

We will journey to Koyambedu on Monday, February 18. Meet us in the courtyard at school at 8:45 where we will board the bus to the Alandur Train Station. We will ride the Metro to Koyambedu and take a short walk into the marketplace. The market covers over one square kilometer, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Closed-toe shoes are recommended, as the market can be a bit messy. You will be able to shop as well, but remember you will have to carry whatever you purchase. This is also an excellent opportunity to work on your photography skills. The merchants are used to photographers walking the lanes and will happily pose for photos, including selfies.

You will need 40 rupees to ride the train plus money for lunch. We will enjoy a delicious Pan Asian lunch at Soy Soi afterwards before returning to school. We hope you join us. If you are interested in joining us for this social outing, please sign up here. Please email Sossity at ssossitypca@aischennai.org with any questions.
