A trained professional dancer of many dance forms, including jazz and contemporary, Hari Krishnan is now living his dream of providing Chennaites the opportunity to learn dance at Danzza Institute of Modern Dance which Hari and his partners set up. Born and raised in Chennai, Hari found he had a passion for dance at an early age. He began his dance career learning Hip Hop, Bollywood and other local styles of dance backing it up with gymnastics. It wasn’t long before he was part of the dancing scenes in many Tamil movies. His work was appreciated and from dancing he moved up to choreography. Some of his work can be seen in the movies ‘Lingaa’, ‘Raavana’, ‘Thoranal’ just to name a few. While working in the movie industry he continued learning dance in a technical manor and joined the CSTD board where he achieved his teacher’s Diploma in Modern Jazz from the same board. Hari had the opportunity to work with an International Dance Troupe called ‘Bharati – The Show’. For 4 years they performed in countries like France, Canada, Marocco, Dubai, America, Switzerland and Spain. He currently spends his time choreographing for many events including Music Videos, schools and sangeeths. He holds many international workshops and has recently come back from Malaysia doing the same. His main focus remains Danzza. The dance institute is associated with the Australian CSTD board is focused on providing quality dance training in a professional atmosphere. We will also be taking a vote on the following proposed changes to the PCA Bylaws that were shared at the March 4th PCA Meeting.

PCA Executive Committee Voting Change
Effective May 2019

Rationale
In order to increase parent participation in voting and include more parents who cannot attend due to work or other commitments, the recommended change to the PCA by-laws is that the elections are done via an online voting system. Currently, voting is done on paper at the May meeting. Online voting is, also, the environmentally responsible solution as there is less waste.

Timeline for 2019, if the online voting change is approved:

April 3        Interested candidates for the PCA Executive Committee can collect the
Self-nomination Form from Sherene in the Head of School office.

April 10    Optional information meeting for those interested in running for the PCA
Executive Committee. At this meeting the roles of each position will be reviewed, and the current Executive Committee will answer questions.

April 19    By noon, Self-nomination Forms are due to Sherene. Any forms received after
12:00 noon will not be accepted.

April 19    Candidates will be listed on the blog until the 10th of May.

May 8        By 5:00pm, the electronic ballots will be sent to all AISC parents via the School.
AISC Administration and PCA Executive Committee members not running will
oversee the ballot creation and distribution.

May 9        By 5:00pm, a reminder will go out to all of those who have not yet filled out the
ballot.

May 10     At 8:00am, an AISC tech team representative will close the voting. The AISC
Administration and all PCA Executive Committee members not running will see the ballot results. The results will be printed, signed by the witnesses, and announced at the PCA Meeting just prior to the PCA Volunteer Appreciation event.

We will also be voting to make a change to the wording of the bylaws to be consistent with the terminology we use presently. We will be changing representative to coordinator in each instance used in the bylaws.

If you are interested in reading the PCA Bylaws, they can be located by clicking on the Parent Community Association Bylaws tab on this blog.

Parents,

We have one last event that AISC will be hosting and needs homes for visitors to stay in.  It happens to be the largest event... SAISA Track & Field.  Teams of 30 athletes of both genders from ages 10-19 will be visiting from Mumbai, Dhaka, Colombo, Kathmandu, Muscat and Amman.  They arrive on TUESDAY and will all depart by SATURDAY which is shifted a day earlier than usual.

If you can help, please fill out this form.  Thank you to those that completed it already earlier this year when we were seeking hosts for other events -- you do not need to fill it out again if you already indicated you would host for track.

Arrival Day: April 9th - Tuesday
Departure Day: April 13th - Saturday
Meal requirements: Breakfast most days (some days may have early starts to beat the heat!) and 2 dinners
Housing requirements: Hosting of at least two visitors, who can share a room or even a bed, though we can also provide mattresses to put on the floor.
More details will be made available after we have students assigned.

Thank you!
