Dear Parents,

Greetings from the National Honor Society! This year, we are planning to invite guest speakers to share their experiences with the high school students in order to inspire and motivate us, as well as to provide us with some sense of direction in life. We are looking for potential guest speakers to do this. We are tentatively planning to have an event on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 and possibly another event sometime in March.

As the National Honor Society, we seek to enrich our community. Our society is focused on four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service and character. We believe that the amazing AISC community has many people with varied experiences that would be great for us students to learn from.

Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey if you are interested in speaking.

Some details:

The event will take place inside the school campus on January 17, from 11:45 to 12:25.
Speakers will have approximately 15 minutes, with a question/answer session if they wish to have one.
Some sample topic areas to speak about:
  • Experiences with volunteering/ public work/ government
  • Work in leadership positions in a job/ in the real world
  • Real world experiences with moral issues
  • School, college and academic pursuits
  • Activism

Thank you very much! Please feel free to contact us with any questions at rkarun20@aischennai.org.

Regards,
National Honor Society

We are offering a special session on Thursday, February 15, for a small group of librarians. Thirty librarian will be visiting 15 local schools, 2 librarians per school, to help them with their libraries. Librarians will also be donating 50 books in English and Tamil to the school that they visit.

We are looking for 15 Tamil-speaking parents to accompany the librarians to the schools and help translate language and culture. If you are interested and available from 9:00-3:30 on February 15th, please contact Jeremy Willette at wjeremy@aischennai.org or Kirsten Welbes at wkirsten@aischennai.org.
