From the Desk of your PCA Team .....
This week, we had an eventful trip to Mount Road to visit different shop in the Mount Road area to look for different antiques. Victoria Technical Institute, or VTI, was a great location to get different antique, carving and even table cloths, napkins and mats. It was wonderful finding the things from the past so well preserved and displayed and maintained by VTI. A must see when looking for antiques.
The next was going to Spencer Plaza. This was one of the oldest malls of Chennai. There is a charm with this mall by which it has some of the oldest vendors in the city. Also, a lot of Kashmir based merchants display their wares. Many of us found beautifully silk thread embroidered pieces. These ranged from shawls to silk jackets to tea pot covers.
Next week will have a cooking demo at Design hotel on Saturday the 24th of the month. It will be making local turkey to the style we want in the west. We hope you will join us.
Diwali Mela
At the end of the month, October 31, 2015, will be the Diwali Mela. Diwali is a festival of lights. To celebrate this tradition of India, the PCA is doing a new concept for the Mela. The Mela will be, like a carnival. We will have performers, our kids and others, performing traditional dances and doing music ensembles on the Main Field. There will be a bouncy house and popcorn. We will have traditional games for everyone to participate in, which are run by our HS kids. Do join us on the evening of the 31st of October from 5:30 - 10:00.
If you are interested, please do give us an email at pca@aisch.org.
We look forward to seeing you all at the Mela. Signing off for this week...
